Speeches
The aim of the take-off investigation was to find the best aircraft configuration in order to respect the performance required by the mission further than some other design choices. In fact, both aircraft have to take-off at least in 100ft during each mission and a minimum cruise velocity was imposed by the strong wind that blows at Wichita every day.
The main purpose was to reduce as well as possible the shaft power in order to minimize the number of the cells battery and the aircraft weight. The optimization was carried out modelling the propulsion system and interconnecting modeFRONTIER with some aerodynamic software like AVL and XFOIL.
