The purpose of this project is the study of the influence of several engine design parameters on engine performance in terms of Time to Torque, Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC) and Air/Fluel ratio, for different turbocharger and intercooler (air-to-air or air-to-liquid) layouts.
With that aim, GT-SUITE has been used to simulate the engine performance in response of input parameters change and modeFRONTIER to automatically run both design of experiments and multi-objective optimization on a hardware cluster.
The combination of the two software allowed a significant improvement of the engine performances and as well as the choice of the optimal engine configuration and turbochargers and intercooler layout.
