Speeches
The airflow into the vehicle underhood is used for cooling of many essential components. At the same time the underhood flow increases drag and can significantly reduce vehicle’s fuel economy especially at high travelling speeds. Active grille shutters (AGS) can be used to reduce this drag penalty.
Presented is a study where the operation of the AGS is optimized using modeFRONTIER. The optimized AGS operation is showing 1.5% improvement in vehicle fuel economy.
